iPOV is committed to innovation in the open source community. Open source projects for Web and video-related applications are exploding and they offer a creative and cost-effective basis for applied innovation. While we never know exactly when the next great capability may surface, iPOV does follow a well-considered roadmap. We share that roadmap because we want others to understand the possibilities and, hopefully, share our vision.
-
Management Reports — Statistics for managers with tabular and graphical presentation.
-
"Draw on Video" Comments — This will be an advanced feature which will allow authorized uses draw annotations directly onto a video or image inside of CoSolvent Community Server and record an accompanying audio track. The complete 'active' comment will be savable to the server and can then be replayed by other (authorized) users. Accompanying the release of this feature will be an expanded and improved commenting system backend..
-
Live Video Feeds + Archives — We will be adding a connection through a streaming video server, allowing authorized uses to connect a webcam into the system and have its video feed be displayed as a predefined page URL. The webcam user will also be able to turn on archival recording of the live stream, which will capture the stream server-side and process it for inclusion on the site as an archived video for later reference..
-
Searchable Transcripts — Currently CoSolvent Community Server allows XML formatted transcripts to be uploaded for any video; when the video is played back the transcript is displayed; however the transcript text is not currently searchable via the site-search feature. We will be integrating the transcript data into the site in a more through fashion, allowing full searchability.
-
"Web 2.0" style interface — We will be adding a new theme which will use a much more dynamic, “web 2.0” style interaction pattern, reducing page reloads, and speeding up navigation of through a CoSolvent Community Server site. Because not all users will be able to effectively use such an interface, we will be adding the ability for users to choose between using the current interface or switching to the new interface.
-
Additional Languages — Add support for new languages as customer need arises.
-
Upload via Email — Take a video with a cell phone and upload it to CCS via email.

iPOV employs a variant of the agile Scrum process. This ensures that our development processes are flexible and adaptive. We factor customer requests and feedback into every iteration cycle. We continuously seek out and embrace opportunities from the open source community. For this reason, the roadmap features listed below are subject to change or re-prioritization at any time without notice.
The open source platform for CoSolvent Community Server is managed through the Assembla site, to see the current roadmap visit the project pages there.
